S.M.A.R.T is a non-profit animal rescue group, based in the snowy Mountains region in Australia, who work towards rescuing and caring for injured, abandoned or neglected animals.
S.M.A.R.T first opened it doors to "Help the Helpless" on the 9th July 2003. Since then we have been able to help many animals big and small. Our main animals in care are dogs but we take anything that needs help.
We are a dedicated group of volunteers from your local communities. Our work is done in Tumut, Batlow, Tumbarumba, Adelong, Gundagai, Wagga, Cootamundra, Young, Talbingo and all surrounding areas. We work very closely with the Tumut Shire Pound.
Our main aim is to help animals that are in trouble one way or another. All the animals that come to us are Temperament tested, Desexed, Vaccinated, Micro chipped and Wormed. They go into foster care where they are assessed for adoption. We have no time limit on our animals, so they can stay in S.M.A.R.T until a home is found. Once adopted the animals must be registered under the new owners name in their local council
